Johanna Sandahl, chairperson 

Johanna Sandahl has served as chairperson of Swedish Society for Nature Conservation (SSNC) since 2014 and as vice-chairperson prior to this. She has worked with environmental and development issues for a long time in various popular movements in Sweden and abroad. Since 2019, Johanna has served as chairperson of the European Environmental Bureau (EEB). The EEB is the largest European network of environmental organisations and consists of 160 organisations in more than 35 countries, gathering around 30 million people in total.  

Johanna is a trained agronomist with a master’s degree in rural development studies.

Karin Lexén, secretary-general 

Karin Lexén was appointed secretary-general of SSNC in March 2017. Prior to that, she worked as head of international policy and the World Water Week at the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI). She has also worked at the Swedish Department of the Environment, in academia and has served as chairperson of the organisation Fairtrade. 

Karin has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and has studied postgraduate courses and individual courses in environmental chemistry, political science and business administration.
